The women’s Ole Miss basketball team is having an impressive season so far in 2022-23. The Lady Rebels just emphasized that with a massive 19-point comeback win over the Arkansas Razorbacks on Sunday night.

After three months of play, the Ole Miss women’s basketball team is currently sitting at 18-4 and could make a strong case to be ranked at this point.

Coach Yolette McPhee-McCuin, better known as Coach “Yo” has turned the Ole Miss women’s program into a consistent winner over the last few years and they are playing as well as anybody in the country to this point in 2023.

The Lady Rebels showed what they were capable of on Sunday night when they traveled to Fayetteville to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks.

They would enter the game as two-point underdogs and halfway through it seemed like they were on track to lose by a much larger margin than two points.

The score was 39-20 at halftime as the Lady Rebels seemed to be letting the game get out of reach. Instead of coming out in the second half and laying down, Coach Yo had her team ready to scratch and claw their way back into it, and that’s exactly what they did.

Ole Miss would go on to score 25 points in the fourth quarter alone, while Arkansas scored 25 points in the entire second half. After climbing all the way back, as time was expiring senior forward Tyia Singleton put in a layup and sent the game to overtime.

From there the Lady Rebels would outscore the Razorbacks 12-9 and secure the 19-point comeback victory in the overtime period. Guard Marquesha Davis led the way for Ole Miss with 20 points on the night.

Currently, Ole Miss sits at number four overall in the SEC rankings and they are 7-2 in conference play. The Lady Rebels have been a bright spot for Ole Miss basketball this year while the men’s team has struggled.

Ole Miss women’s basketball will be back in action again on February 2nd when they take on the Tennessee Volunteers.
