Catching you up on the latest Ole Miss news: Ole Miss football caps off big recruiting day while the Rebels’ men’s basketball team struggles again.

The Ole Miss football squad is on the right track after a big signing day wrapped up yesterday. We covered all of the recruiting news over the last couple of days but in case you missed it, The Rebels wrapped up a top-25 recruiting class for 2023.

Yesterday’s national signing day would be pretty quiet, with most of the Rebels’ top prospects having already signed by the early signing deadline in December.

The Rebels still secured 5-star recruit Suntarine Perkins and a host of other 4-star recruits.

Along with Perkins, the Rebels’ recruiting class was headlined by 4-star wide receiver Ayden Williams. The duo were the first and second overall ranked prospects in the state of Mississippi. You can see the full recap of our Ole Miss recruiting class for 2023 here.

Ole Miss men’s basketball hits another skid, Davis on the hot seat

In other Ole Miss news, the Rebels’ men’s basketball team is currently on a four-game losing streak after their January 17th win over SEC foe South Carolina.

Their four-game skid includes losses to Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma State, and Kentucky. They haven’t been extremely competitive in any of the aforementioned games either, their best effort coming in the form of a nine-point loss to Kentucky.

The Rebels’ men’s basketball team is officially 1-10 over their last 11 games, losing the majority of those games by double digits. Their lone win in that stretch came at South Carolina, the worst team in the SEC, sitting at 8-14 and 1-8 in conference play.

Ole Miss currently sits second from the bottom in the SEC at 9-13 and 1-8 overall in conference play. Many Rebel fans believe Kermit Davis’ time should be up in Oxford. It stands to be seen if he will be let go.

Davis has brought some winning seasons to Ole Miss over the last few years and this may just be a down season for the Rebels but one thing is for sure, he will not be afforded a long leash in the pressure cooker of the SEC.
