The Ole Miss baseball season kicks off tonight against the University of Delaware. Here we will list everything you need to know ahead of the opening pitch and how you can watch the game on opening day.
After 236 days the college baseball opening day is finally upon us. The defending national champion Ole Miss Rebels will kick off their season today at 4:00 p.m. CST/5:00 p.m. EST at Swayze Field.
This will be the first of a three-game series lasting with Delaware running from tonight until Sunday, February 19. Both weekend games will have a start time of noon CST. Lefty Hunter Elliot is the projected starter on the mound for tonight’s opening game.
Grayson Saunier and Xavier Rivas are expected to start the next two games on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Jacob Gonzalez and Hunter Elliott were named to the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, giving the Rebels three-consecutive seasons with multiple nominees on the list.
Ole Miss was also the only team in the nation to have at least one player at every position ranked in D1Baseball’s Position Power Rankings.
Ole Miss baseball opens its 23rd season under head coach Mike Bianco, winning at least 30 games in every season and at least 40 in 10 seasons. The Rebels are 20-2 in home openers all-time under coach Bianco.
The Rebels come into the season ranked in the top-25 in all six major preseason polls. They were ranked in the top 10 in five of the six polls for the second-consecutive season, with the highest ranking at number four by D1Baseball.
You can watch tonight’s game for Ole Miss baseball on SEC Network + and you can listen to the call on Olemisssports.com. Ole Miss will be celebrating their 2022 National Championship all weekend long, starting with a ceremonial first pitch from last year’s captain Tim Elko.
