Updating you on the latest Ole Miss news: Men’s basketball drops another game while the Lady Rebels pick up their 21st win on the season.

The season of misery is almost at its end. The Ole Miss men’s basketball team dropped another game on Wednesday night to the Auburn Tigers by a score of 78-74.

This was their second loss to Auburn this season, also losing to the Tigers back on January 10. The Rebels did put up a fight, posting their 5th highest score this year at 74 points.

They have three games remaining on the season, the next being on Saturday, February 25 against LSU. This will be their first matchup against the Tigers this year.

While the men’s team has struggled mightily, the Lady Rebels have been one of the SEC’s best teams this season. They secured their 21st win of the year last night against Missouri.

The Lady Rebels now sit at 21-7 going into their final game of the season this Sunday where they will play a rematch against Alabama. Ole Miss narrowly lost the first contest 63-58. Four of their seven losses came at the hands of teams ranked at least 13th or better, including two top-five teams.

More Ole Miss news: Pitching ace Hunter Elliot will be out this weekend against Maryland with a forearm injury.

Ole Miss baseball has gotten off to a blazing hot start to the year and they currently sit at 4-0. The Rebels will have their first tough test of the year this weekend in a three-game series against a 13th overall-ranked Maryland team.

It seems as though their dominant start has come at a cost. The Rebels will have to take on the Terrapins this weekend without starting pitcher Hunter Elliott.

Elliott experienced forearm tightness in his start last Friday against Arkansas State. It flared up on Sunday but Elliot continued to throw as normal and the issue resurfaced again this past Monday.

Ole Miss decided to send him for an MRI that head coach Mike Bianco called “precautionary.” They are still awaiting the results. The Rebels’ three-game series against Maryland kicks off on Friday, February 24 at 4:00 p.m. CST at Swayze Field.
