Catching you up on the latest in Ole Miss basketball: The Ole Miss women’s basketball team begins their NCAA tournament run tonight against Gonzaga at 9:00 p.m. CST on ESPNU.

It’s that time of year and March Madness is officially upon us. The men’s NCAA basketball tournament kicked off yesterday, and we saw plenty of madness in the first-round matchups that took place.

The women’s tournament will no doubt provide many shocking, miraculous, and downright exciting moments as well as they begin play today. The Ole Miss women’s basketball team will begin their tournament play tonight against Gonzaga.

The Lady Rebels enter the women’s NCAA tournament as an eight seed with a 23-8 overall record. They made a nice run in the SEC tournament before falling to the top-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks who have remained undefeated this season and enter the tournament as a one-seed.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs enter the matchup as a nine seed after compiling a 28-4 record this season. This will undoubtedly be one of the best first-round matchups in this tournament.

This is the first back-to-back NCAA tournament appearance in almost twenty years for the Ole Miss women’s basketball team, the last being the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons.

Lady Rebels head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin wrapped up her fifth regular season leading the women’s Ole Miss basketball program and is looking to get her first-ever NCAA tournament victory tonight.

This will be coach Yo’s third trip to the NCAA tournament. She took the Jacksonville University Dolphins to the dance in the 2015-16 season and she led the Lady Rebels there last year. Both teams would unfortunately experience a first-round exit.

The Ole Miss-Gonzaga matchup will take place tonight at 9:00 p.m. CST at Maples Pavilion at the University of Stanford and will be broadcast on ESPNU. The Lady Rebels are two-point favorites in the contest.
