After upsetting top-seeded Stanford Sunday night the women’s Ole Miss basketball team will face off against Louisville in the Sweet 16.

The Lady Rebels don’t need the expectations of a Cinderella story or a team of destiny, but they do want the college basketball world to know they are here and here to stay, as long as coach Yo is at the helm of the program.

The women’s Ole Miss basketball team pulled off one of the most impressive upsets in recent history in women’s college basketball upsetting the No. 1 overall seed Stanford, a group that hadn’t missed the round of 16 since 2007.

In the same amount of time that Stanford was holding a sweet 16-appearance streak, The Rebels were struggling to make it that far in the tournament, the last appearance also being 2007 for Ole Miss. They entered Sunday night’s game against Stanford 12.5 point underdogs with a 74.3% chance to win and they went on to shock the world.

Now the Lady Rebels have another tough test in No. 5-seed Louisville. Louisville finished the season 24-11 and made an appearance in the ACC tournament championship game where they fell to Virginia Tech.

After a close 83-81 first-round victory over Drake, Louisville went on to pull a small upset of their own when they upended the N0. 4-seed Texas Longhorns in blowout fashion 73-51.

To the surprise of likely no one, the Rebels will enter the game against Louisville as an underdog, albeit this time only by 2.5 points. You can continue doubting the Rebels, but setting talent aside, it’s hard to beat a team that believes in each other and believes in the message of their leader.

The matchup will take place in Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, WA tonight at 9:00 p.m. CST/10:00 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on ESPN.
