Catching you up on the latest Ole Miss news: The Ole Miss women’s basketball team had an impressive run to the sweet 16 but came up short to Louisville.

A 23-win regular season, two NCAA tournament wins, and their first sweet 16 appearance since 2007, this season was anything but a disappointment for Ole Miss women’s basketball. That said, it’s always disappointing to see a run like they’ve had lately come to an end.

While the men’s team struggled this year, a run that led to the firing of head coach Kermit Davis, the Ole Miss women’s team was a bright spot for Ole Miss hoops.

After Coach Yo secured her first-ever NCAA tournament win against Gonzaga in round one, the Lady Rebels pulled one of the biggest upsets in recent NCAA tournament history when they took down top-seeded Stanford.

That win led them to the sweet 16 round where they faced off against a tough Louisville Cardinals team. It was a tight game for the majority of the contest but ultimately Ole Miss could not overcome the Cardinal’s hot shooting and would go on to fall 72-62.

Marquesha Davis and Myah Taylor led Ole Miss with 19 points each. The Rebels wrap up a record-breaking season totaling a program-best 11 wins in the SEC and conclude the season with a final record of 25-9.

After getting off to a hot start to the year Ole Miss baseball has had some bumps in the road as of late. A week after getting swept by Vanderbilt, the Rebels are now winless in the SEC after another series sweep by the Florida Gators.

The Rebels would fall in game one of a Saturday doubleheader 9-7. They led 6-3 up until the final two innings when the Gators put up four runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth to secure the win.

In the second game, the Ole Miss fell behind early as the Gators scored a run in each of the first and second innings. They were also out-hit 13-10. The Rebels would make a charge later on but would go on to drop this game 12-8.

Sunday brought more of the same for the Rebels as they couldn’t get much offense going and would go on to drop the third game 7-4. Ole Miss is now 0-6 in the SEC and 15-9 overall. Concern is starting to build as they look to find their first win in the conference.

The Rebels will be on the road this Tuesday to take on Southern Miss, a team that they beat 11-5 earlier this year.
