Three players Ole Miss from Ole Miss Football have officially entered the NCAA transfer portal as of Wednesday, just four days following the annual Grove Bowl.

While Lane Kiffin is normally known for bringing players to Oxford from the transfer portal, on Wednesday three players decided to leave instead.

Those three included second-year defensive lineman Tywone Malone, junior cornerback Markevious Brown, and Sophomore safety Elijah Sabbatini.

Tywone Malone is a two-sport athlete for Ole Miss playing baseball along with football. A highly touted four-star prospect out of Bergen Catholic high school in Jamesburg, New Jersey, Malone has struggled the last couple of seasons to find a consistent role in either sport.

For Ole Miss football this past season Malone appeared in all 13 games recording 10 total tackles and just one sack. As a freshman, Malone totaled three tackles and a sack. For the baseball team, he has appeared in six games this year as a designated hitter and has one home run.

Markevious Brown is another former four-star prospect out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Brown was ranked as the 13th overall cornerback in the country for the class of 2021 and the 35th best player from Florida by ESPN.

This past season Brown appeared in all 13 games, mostly on special teams, and recorded 19 total tackles and two pass deflections.

Elijah Sabbatini is a former three-star prospect from Biloxi, Mississippi, and was ranked as the 14th overall player in the state for the 2021 class. Sabbatini was redshirted this past year and has yet to see any on-field action.

The timing of the transfer announcements came just a few days after Ole Miss football played its annual Grove Bowl. The transfer of Malone came as a surprise to many Rebel fans, the first player to play both football and baseball at Ole Miss since former quarterback John Rhys Plumlee.
