Zach Evans, Running Back

  • Los Angeles Rams
  • Round 6, Pick 215

A bit of a surprise that he lasted until the sixth round, Evans was universally regarded as one of the more talented backs in this class. Perhaps a string of injuries late in the year that required him to sit out the NFL Combine and the Ole Miss Football pro day hurt him on draft night.

This past season Evans played a key role in the rushing attack that ranked third nationally in rushing offense averaging 256.6 yards per game as a team. He tallied 936 rushing yards on 144 carries with nine touchdowns last season and was named second-team All-SEC by Pro Football Focus.

Most scouts had a third to fourth-round grade on Evans and this could be one of the best value picks of the entire 2023 Draft for the Rams. Don’t be surprised if he pushes incumbent starter Cam Akers for the starting job next season, assuming he remains healthy.
