Other Ole Miss News: Ole Miss basketball guard Matthew Murrell will not go to NBA, elected to stay in Oxford.
Ole Miss guard Matthew Murrell is reportedly returning to Ole Miss for the 2023-24 season according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.
Murrell went through the pre-draft process this offseason for the 2023 NBA Draft but chose to maintain his collegiate eligibility allowing him to return to school if he so chose to do so.
In a conversation with ESPN Murrell stated “After gathering feedback from my workouts and team personnel, I am going to continue to build my game at Ole Miss, so I am in the position I want to be in for the 2024 NBA draft.”
This is big news for a rebuilding Ole Miss basketball program. New head men’s basketball coach Chris Beard has been hard at work adding multiple transfers from the NCAA transfer portal this offseason in an effort to turn around a 12-21 team, and he now has his leading guard returning.
