Ole Miss basketball received another transfer commitment from Auburn small forward Allen Flanigan, son of Ole Miss assistant coach Wes Flanigan.

The Ole Miss basketball program has received a bevy of transfers so far in the college basketball offseason as new men’s head coach Chris Beard looks to overhaul a team that won just 13 games this past year.

So far the Rebels have received six total players via the NCAA Transfer Portal, the latest being former Auburn small forward Allen Flanigan.

Allen is the son of the current Ole Miss basketball assistant coach Wes Flanigan, following his father from Auburn to Oxford. Wes served as an assistant coach on Bruce Pearl’s staff at Auburn before joining Chris Beard in Oxford earlier this year. He also served as the men’s basketball head coach at the University of Little Rock for two seasons from 2016-2018.

Allen Flanigan will join the Rebels with one year of eligibility remaining. This past year the  6-foot-6, 220-pound forward was a 2021-22 Preseason All-SEC First Team selection.

He played in 34 total games for the Tigers last season recording 19 starts. Flanigan was also the Tiger’s fourth-leading scorer averaging just over 10 points per game and the second-leading rebounder averaging 5.0 rebounds.

Flanigan finishes his Auburn playing career with 69 total starts with 966 points, 167 assists, and 479 rebounds.

Allen now joins former Arizona State guard, Austin Nunez, Georgetown guard Brandon Murray, Western Kentucky center Jamarion Sharp and Oklahoma State center Moussa Cisse as transfers brought in by Chris Beard through the portal. With the announcement of Matthew Murrell returning next year, Ole Miss has quietly built a competitive roster.

Flanigan’s commitment to the Rebels now moves Ole Miss up to the seventh spot in the 247Sports transfer portal rankings, giving them the second-best transfer class in the SEC.
