Ole Miss Football: Taking a look at the Rebels’ 2024 SEC opponents
The SEC 2024 football schedule has been released and there will be some notable changes for Ole Miss football coming. The schedule includes newcomers Oklahoma and Texas and eliminates the division format.
Alabama, Vanderbilt, and Auburn are just some of the familiar names missing from the Ole Miss football schedule in 2024. Instead, insert newcomer Oklahoma and plenty of other current SEC East teams.
A wrinkle in the new schedule will have each of the 14 existing SEC teams playing either Oklahoma or Texas during the 2024 season. As previously announced each team will play eight conference games plus one required opponent from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, or a major independent program once the conference expands to 16 teams in 2024.
Another wrinkle that the SEC will introduce in 2024 is the elimination of the division format. No longer will there be a West and an East classification, but each team will have a chance to play each other year to year across the conference.
Below we will list each opponent that will be on the schedule for Ole Miss football beginning in 2024.

Home Opponents:
- Georgia
Alabama is gone from the Rebels’ schedule, but they will still have to play one of the SEC’s best in the Georgia Bulldogs. The two teams have only played once in the last decade, a matchup in 2016 in which the Rebels won in blowout fashion 45-14.
- Kentucky
The Rebels and Wildcats have faced off three total times over the last six years. Ole Miss is 3-0 in that stretch winning a couple of thrillers in 2020 and 2022.
- Oklahoma
As stated earlier, each of the 14 current SEC teams will play either Texas or Oklahoma and the Rebels will take on the Sooners in Oxford in 2024. Oklahoma experienced a down year this past season when they finished 6-7 under first-year head coach Brent Venables but the Sooners have only four total prior seasons where they didn’t reach double-digit wins since 2000.
- Mississippi State
The Egg Bowl had to remain on the schedule of course for both Ole Miss and Mississippi State. One of the best rivalries in college football always produces one of the year’s most entertaining games.
Away Opponents:
- Arkansas
A fellow member of the SEC West, The Rebels, and Razorbacks typically play every year with the current setup of the conference. Last year the Razorbacks took the matchup 42-27.
- Florida
A matchup that is also not played often with Florida being in the SEC East, these two teams tend to produce some classics. The series is split 3-3 dating back to 2002 with the last game between the two being in 2020.
- South Carolina
Another SEC East team that Ole Miss hasn’t played regularly, the Rebels won the last contest against the Gamecocks in 2020 by a score of 59-42.
- LSU
Another rivalry that we’re glad to see stay put, it seems as if the tradition of playing LSU every year will continue for Ole Miss football.
