Following a win over the Tulane Green Wave this past Saturday by a score of 37-20, Ole Miss football is rising again in the latest AP Top 25 poll. The Rebels jumped from No. 20 to 17 in the latest rankings.

The Ole Miss football squad is off to a good start in the 2023 college football season compiling a 2-0 record to this point. The Rebels took care of business against Mercer in week one to the tune of 73-7 and followed that up with another double-digit win against a top 25-ranked Tulane team in New Orleans this past weekend.

After the release of the latest AP Poll, the Rebels have climbed three spots from #20 to #17. They have now climbed five total spots in the Poll after they began the 2023 season at 22nd overall. They are one of five total SEC teams listed in the top 25 and are ranked the lowest of all five following Georgia (1), Alabama (10), Tennessee (11), and LSU (14).

While they did beat Tulane by double digits, the Rebels looked anything but perfect this past Saturday against the Green Wave. They found themselves in a 10-point hole 17-7 in the first half and went in trailing by a touchdown at halftime.

Seven of the Rebel’s 37 points came on the defensive side of the ball off of a scoop and score and after sputtering on offense for much of the game they had to settle for three field goals. Lane Kiffin’s offense wasn’t exactly hitting on all cylinders and the head coach expressed his concerns with the run game ahead of the Rebel’s matchup with Georgia Tech this Saturday.

When speaking to the media earlier this week Kiffin stated: “Yeah, I’m highly concerned, that’s very unusual for us. I don’t remember the inability to run the ball at all. It takes everybody to have a really good running game.” Star running back Quinshon Judkins has yet to eclipse 100 yards in either of the first two games.

This Saturday Ole Miss will be taking on Georgia Tech in Oxford at 6:30 p.m. CST.
