The Ole Miss football squad took care of business in their third game this past Saturday against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, winning 48-23. The Rebels had some hiccups throughout but scored 24 fourth-quarter points to pull away and get the win.

They were slow out of the gates for the second week in a row but the Ole Miss football team secured their third win of the year this weekend against Georgia Tech. After struggling in the first half, and much of the second half, against Tulane a week ago, many were wondering if there was reason for concern with the Rebels’ defense and running game.

They came out slow again on Saturday against Georgia Tech but would eventually start tacking on points towards the end of the game. The Rebels held a tight 10-3 lead over Georgia Tech at halftime, but they would start pouring on the points in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter. When they did score, they scored fast as the Yellow Jackets had almost double the time of possession as Ole Miss.

The Rebels finished with 550 yards of total offense, including 299 yards on the ground, thanks to a career-high rushing day from starting QB Jackson Dart who ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Through the air, Dart completed 10-of-18 passes for 251 yards and one touchdown.

Wide receiver Jordan Watkins had four catches for 119 yards including a 68-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter from Dart. Running back Quinshon Judkins struggled to get going again on the ground rushing for just 37 yards on 13 carries. Judkins has yet to eclipse 100 yards in any game yet.

Ole Miss football is now set for a big showdown at No. 10 Alabama next Saturday, Sept. 23, with kickoff at Bryant-Denny Stadium set for 2:30 p.m. CST on CBS.
