Ole Miss Football: Remaining scheduled opponents for the Rebels
We are at the halfway point of the 2023 college football season, with Ole Miss sitting at 5-1. Most fans would have been happy with the start to the campaign for the Rebels. However, it doesn’t get much easier for the team. Let’s take a look at the remaining opponents on the schedule.
At Auburn 10/21
After this weekends bye week, the Rebels head into Jordan-Hare Stadium to take on Auburn. The Rebels have an abysmal record against the Tigers, with their last win in Auburn back into 2015. They did take the victory last season and will catch a struggling Auburn team coming of a road game against LSU.
Vanderbilt 10/28
Following the tough game against Auburn, Ole Miss have one of the easier games in the SEC. Vanderbilt at home is close to being a cup cake game and should be a comfortable win for the Rebels if taken seriously. The Commodores are 0-3 against SEC teams this season and have lost the last 4 against Ole Miss.
Texas A&M 11/4
The toughest remaining SEC West game is against Texas A&M in Oxford. The Aggies will be a dangerous opponent, despite missing starting QB Connor Weigman. Max Johnson has deputised well and the team are coming off a close loss to Alabama. Ole Miss have taken the last two games in this match-up.
At Georgia 11/11
The hardest remaining opponent on the schedule is Georgia, which Ole Miss will play in Athens. The current number 1 ranked team and reigning college football champions, it will be tough. The Rebels can take something from how the Bulldogs have played this season. However, they have still always manged to find a way to win. This will be tough.
UL Monroe 11/18
The final out of conference game of the regular season is against UL Monroe. The Warhawks are struggling this season, already taking a huge 44 point loss to Texas A&M. Ole Miss have only met their week 12 opponents Louisiana-Monroe 4 times, winning all 4. The latest being a 70-21 victory in 2018.
At Mississippi State 11/23
As always, the final game of the season will be the rivalry game against Mississippi State. Ole Miss missed out on making it 3 Egg Bowl victories in a row last season, losing 24-22 to the late Mike Leach coached team. The Bulldogs are finding it hard under new HC Zach Arnett, losing all 3 SEC games so far. Ole Miss should be able to bring back the Egg Bowl to Oxford this season.
The Rebels have some tough opponents and some that should be comfortable wins. the 2023 season could easily see Ole Miss finish 10-2, which would be a very successful season for Lane Kiffin and the team.
