The new AP Poll came out Sunday, with Ole Miss sticking at number 13 after their bye week. With that, there are some updated college football bowl projections. What bowl game will the Rebels potentially be competing in as it stands?

Ole Miss stayed pat at number 13 in the latest AP Poll, without playing a game in week 7. The Rebels are 5-1 heading into a week 8 road game at Auburn. With 6 games left to play, if the rankings finish as they are today, what bowl game would Lane Kiffin’s side compete in?

As it Stands, Ole Miss would be up against the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Citrus Bowl.

Iowa moved back into the top 25 this week with a win at the Camp Randal Stadium against Wisconsin. They lead the Big Ten West at 6-1, with a 3-1 conference record.

Last season the Rebels played in the Texas Bowl, losing out to Big 12 team Texas Tech. They finished the 2022 season ranked 20.

In 2021 they finished ranked 11 under HC Lane Kiffin, losing to Baylor in the Sugar Bowl. Ole Miss finishing 10-3 on the season, the best record under Kiffin with the Rebels.

Lane Kiffin has made a bowl game in all his 3 previous seasons with the Rebels. As it stands, Kiffin has a 1-2 record in bowl games at Ole Miss. The 48 year old has a 3-4 record over his 11 previous seasons as a head coach.

With still a long way to go, it would be very unlikely that this bowl game scenario would happen. However, both teams have a high chance of being in the AP top 25 after the regular season.

Although Ole Miss still have Georgia and other tough teams left on the schedule, they will still be hoping for another 10 win season under Kiffin. If they can manage to get to 10 wins again and win their bowl game, it will be another excellent season for the Rebels.
