The college football season is coming to a close, with week 13 in sight. That means it’s Thanksgiving Day this Thursday and the 120th Egg Bowl.

Week 13 in the regular season of college football is rivalry week. Ole Miss will bet at Davis Wade Stadium to face Mississippi State in the 120th edition of the Egg Bowl.

The match-up will be live on ESPN at 6:30 pm CT/7:30 pm ET ON Nov.24 on Thanksgiving Day.

Both teams are coming off below-average performances against group of five opponents. Ole Miss stuttered past ULM Monroe 35-3, while the Bulldogs propelled a late Southern Missouri comeback to win 41-20.

Aside from bragging rights in the rivalry, both teams still have a big reason to win the game. Ole Miss are still looking to break the top ten rankings with a win and other results helping them. Mississippi State still needs one more to be bowl-eligible.

After a very flat performance against Louisiana-Monroe in week 12, Lane Kiffin will be preaching the need to start fast on Thursday. The Rebels are 14-point favourites in this year’s Egg Bowl, with the Bulldogs huge underperformers this season.

The Rebels have scored 140 more points than their Egg Bowl rivals this season.  An alarming stat for Mississippi State is  they are averaging just 13.4 points in their 7 SEC games this season.

Ole Miss are also playing with a chip on their shoulder, losing last season’s Egg Bowl in Oxford 24-22. The Rebels have won 3 of the last 4 in Starkville, and Kiffin is 2-1 in his 3 Egg Bowl games.

Opposing QB Will Rogers is fit to compete in his fourth straight Egg Bowl. Rogers started the week 12 game after missing the previous four games. The Senior QB is the all-time leader in passing yards at the University, nearly 3,000 ahead of Dak Prescott.

Bragging rights are always up for grabs in rivalry games. Lane Kiffin needs this one after last season’s loss and the disappointing performance on Saturday.

The 120th edition of the Egg Bowl is not to be missed this Thursday.
