The college football transfer portal officially opens on Dec.4, with many players declaring their intentions all this week. One of those players was Indiana OT Carter Smith, who today confirmed he will be arranging a visit to Oxford.
Despite the transfer portal not officially opening for another few days, players have started to declare their intentions to enter the portal opens on Dec.4.
The Indiana Football program has seen a flurry of players declare they will enter the portal this week. The Hoosiers recently fired Tom Allen, who served for seven years as the head coach. It seems with the uncertain future, many players are looking to explore their options.
One of the Indiana players that has confirmed he will enter the transfer portal was OT Carter Smith. The 2022 recruit was one of the best tackles in the Big Ten, playing 797 snaps, allowing just two sacks and two quarterback hits.
Carter Smith confirmed that Ole Miss has offered and is planning on taking a visit to Oxford. The big LT already has a visit scheduled for this weekend with Virginia Tech and will have more suitors in the coming weeks.
One key area that Lane Kiffin needs to address for next season is the offensive line. The position group underperformed drastically this season, with quarterback Jaxson Dart being sacked 26 times.
If Kiffin and the team want to bridge the gap with the big boys in the Southwestern Conference, having a good offensive line is a big part towards that.
