The college football early signing period is nearly upon us, with coach Kiffin putting in the miles on the recruiting trail. Last week, Kiffin was in Georgia, while yesterday, the Rebels head coach was watching a 4-star running back from the 2024 class in Texas.

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin has been on the recruiting trail this week. Last weekend, he was checking out Alabama tight end commit Caleb Odom, who played for his high school in Georgia. Yesterday, Kiffin was down south, watching 4-star running back Kewan Lacy playing in the Texas high school playoffs.

Kewan Lacy is the number 6 ranked running back in the 2024 recruiting class, per On3.

The 205lb running back was committed to Nebraska. However, he decommited from the Cornhuskers at the end of October, opening up his recruitment.

There have been plenty of teams pushing for his services after his announcement. SEC teams Alabama, Missouri and Florida are keen on signing Lacy. The Texas native has already visited Missouri and Alabama in November, with visits to Ole Miss, among other teams to follow.

As it stands, it seems like its a battle between Lane Kiffin and Nick Saban for Lacy.

Kiffin does not have a running back commit from the 2024 class as it stands. However, in typical Lane Kiffin fashion, he is hammering the recruiting trail hard going into the new year.

Rebels star running back Quinshon Judkins has two years of eligibility left. However, another good season in junior year could see him declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. That is way down the line, but a running back commit could see the possibility of being the leader of the backfield in 2025.

Kewan Lacy won’t be the only running back Kiffin has his eyes on from the 2024 class. Even with players already committed, it is flip season and Kiffin will be working 24/7 to make sure the future is bright for Ole Miss.
