Ole Miss Football: Three potential offensive line targets from the transfer portal
The college football transfer portal doesn’t officially open until this coming Monday. However, there have been plenty of players declaring their intentions to enter. Here are three offensive line targets that Ole Miss could be looking at from the transfer portal.
The Ole Miss offensive line has been one of the most inconsistent performing groups on the team this season. They have had some solid games, especially in the run game. However, in most games, it’s been low-quality play.
They have had a few injury issues across the line, with players being moved out of their preferred positions to try to make a competitive line. A few of the 2023 starters from the line could be back for the Rebels.
However, Kiffin will still be looking to strengthen the position group. Could he be looking at the below four offensive line players that have hit the transfer portal?
Carter Smith
The Indiana Hoosiers have had a wave of players hit the transfer portal after the departure of head coach Tom Allen. One of those players was offensive tackle Carter Smith. Smith played 797 snaps this season for the Hoosiers, allowing just two sacks and two QB pressures.
Carter Smith has several suitors, one of them being Ole Miss, who have already offered the big LT. Smith has an official visit planned with Virginia Tech this weekend, with Smith planning to arrange a visit to Oxford soon.
Smith is ranked the number 6 offensive tackle in the transfer portal, per On3. He would also still have three years of eligibility remaining.
