In a week that has seen a couple of commits for the Rebels, they just got some great news on a player who is returning in 2024. Wide receiver Jordan Watkins has decided to stay for his last remaining season at Ole Miss.
The Ole Miss wide receiver room had three players go for over 700 receiving yards this season. Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins and Dayton Wade. It was a fruitful receiving core for Jaxson Dart during the regular season. Barring any injuries, all three will link up again for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl against Penn State.
It will be the last time we see Dayton Wade in a Rebels uniform, deciding to take a crack at the NFL next season. Tre Harris has still yet to announce his decision. However, earlier news broke that Jordan Watkins would be returning for his final season with Ole Miss.
Jordan Watkins had his best season at Ole Miss this season, catching 53 passes for 741 yards and three touchdowns. He was the guy who stood up early in the season when players were injured and even played through a broken hand down the back stretch of the schedule.
Getting Watkins back in the building for next season is huge news for Kiffin. He has been a reliable target for Dart over the last two seasons, especially in key situations.
Watkins confirming he is back means he will be alongside JUCO transfer Deion Smith in the receiver room for next season. Tre Harris is still yet to announce his decision, with whispers surfacing that South Carolina transfer Antwane “Juice” Wells could be heading to Oxford.
Despite the players that have committed to Ole Miss, sometimes the best news is when current players stay on. Jordan Watkins is one of those positive guys you need around the team. Next season, Watkins will be doing just that.
