Ole Miss Football: Jaxson Dart makes early 2024 Heisman candidates list
The 2023 Heisman ceremony happened in New York yesterday evening, with LSU QB Jayden Daniels scooping the award. Brad Crawford of 247sports has listed his ten early candidates for the 2024 Heisman, with Jaxson Dart making the list.
It’s never too early to look at the 2024 Heisman early candidates. That’s what 247sports college football writer Brad Crawford has done, compiling a list of ten players he likes for next year’s race.
The list understandably featured nine quarterbacks, with the non-QB being Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon.
One of the nine quarterbacks mentioned in Crawford’s 2024 Heisman list was Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. Dart had another solid season for the Rebels, throwing for 2,985 passing yards at a 65.4% completion rate. Dart also threw ten passing touchdowns while rushing for 377 yards and seven touchdowns.
Despite another good season for Dart, he will need to drastically up his numbers if he wants to be in the race for the 2024 Heisman.
The 2023 winner, Jayden Daniels showed that the team record doesn’t affect the voters, as long as your numbers are top-tier. Something that Daniels did, throwing for 3,812 passing yards and 40 touchdowns. Daniels also had over 1000 rushing yards and ten touchdowns on the ground.
Dart will hopefully be helped with the receiving core he may have next season. With a 4-star JUCO transfer, Deion Smith joining Jordan Watkins, who confirmed he was staying in college for his final season. They could soon have South Carolina transfer Antwane “Juice” Wells on the roster, which would be a huge transfer for Ole Miss.
One Rebels player with an outside chance of being in the 2024 Heisman conversation is running back Quinshon Judkins. It’s not common for a player outside the quarterback position to win the Heisman. However, if Judkins can start the 2024 season like he did in his true freshman season in 2022, he could be a longshot for the trophy.
Having Jaxson Dart make the top ten shows how highly he is thought of in college football by some media outlets.
