The Ole Miss side of Luke Ferrelli allegations came out on Wednesday, and it was nothing like Dabo Swinney would have anticipated. When Swinney first called said tampering, everyone expected Golding to get behind the mike and go off on a silimar rant defending his team.
However, they choose not to respond. Now, almost 3 months after Swinney dropped the bomb, Golding and his team divulged their stance by simply brushing off the allegations, and speaking on Ferrelli as a team member instead.
Trinidad Chambliss on Luke Ferrelli
The leader of the offense Trinidad Chambliss indeed commanded all the spotlight coming off a massive legal win over the NCAA. That's why his answer on Ferrelli and the new defensive additions set the standard for the general locker room concencus over the transfer.
"Luke (Ferrelli)’s a dog," Chambliss said on Wednesday.
"He’s going to be really good for our defense. Him and (Keaton Thomas) together—it’s going to be tough. Our defense is going to be really good. He was ACC Freshman of the Year, so he’s already proven it. I’m excited to see what he does in the SEC."
Pete Golding, on the other hand, simply but coldly dismissed the media digging for dirt with a "we have our compliance office for that."
"There's two sides to every story. I'm not going to sit up here and use the podium as a grandstand and all of that. That's why there is enforcement. That's why we have our compliance office. They do all that," Golding said.
Instead, the head coach talked about how Ferrelli is as a player.
"The bottom line with the recruitment of Luke, he came here on an official visit prior to the Fiesta Bowl," Golding added.
An Investigation from the NCAA is said to be in the wings, but when it comes to the clock, these investigations are all over the map.
