The college football winter transfer portal opened today, beginning the frantic 20-day window before it closes. Ole Miss has already started working on it and has talked to several players, including two Alabama transfers.

Since Alabama was left out of the College Football Playoffs yesterday, several Crimson Tide players have been reported entering the portal. Lane Kiffin and the Rebels will have eyes on them, including a former five-star tight end/wide receiver.

Caleb Odom was previously recruited heavily by Ole Miss

One of the standout players reported to be hitting the transfer portal from Alabama was wide receiver Caleb Odom. The 2024 recruit, who On3 rated a five-star tight end and the No.30 ranked player nationally, is also listed as a wide receiver by other sites.

Odom was heavily recruited by Ole Miss and visited Oxford several times during his recruitment. There were rumblings that the Rebels had a good shot at his commitment decision, but he eventually headed to Tuscaloosa.

Lane Kiffin is set to lose a large chunk of his wide receiver and tight end room, so those position groups are of great interest in the transfer portal. Odom will hold significant interest from top teams, but Ole Miss could be in a good spot if they decide to pursue the freshman.

The Rebels are already in a good position to land former Alabama players linebacker Keanu Koht and defensive tackle Jehiem Oatis. Both were recruited heavily by current defensive coordinator Pete Golding, Alabama's DC at the time.

Offensive tackle Miles McVay and wide receiver Kendrick Law are named to watch. The latter was also recruited by Pete Golding in 2022 during his time at the Crimson Tide.
