The Lane Kiffin drama has led the Ole Miss fans to a point where they await the announcement Saturday more than the Egg Bowl Friday.

LSU played its final gambit in poaching Kiffin via a $90 million contract, and ever since, the odds have tilted in LSU's favor.

The anxiety that Kiffin would actually be leaving the Rebels right before the College Football Playoff is settling in Oxford. The latest rumblings in the odds markets are only making it worse.

"While it is unlikely there will be definitive clarity before next Saturday, numerous sources with knowledge of the situation have told CBS Sports in the last 24 hours that they believe the momentum has shifted in LSU's favor to land the talented head coach," CBS Sports' John Tatly and Matt Zenitz explain.

"To be clear, that does not mean it's a done deal."

Odds aren't the root cause of the anxiety running wild in the Grove; it is Kiffin's actions.

The Ole Miss head coach has not outright denied, or even defied any coaching carousel rumors.

Well, props to him for not lying to fans about his commitment when he was considering other options, but kicking the can down the road this long is plainly unfair to Ole Miss fans.

A simple statement from Kiffin about whatever his decision could be, to leave before or after the Playoff, would have been a nice parting gift, if he is planning to leave.

"Throughout the week, Kiffin has seemingly gone back and forth by the day while trying to make a decision. For example, there were multiple days this week that sources felt like it was trending toward Kiffin taking the job at LSU, only for it to then come across the next day like he was giving real thought to staying at Ole Miss," Tatly and Zenitz continue.

Neither of the fanbases, Ole Miss or LSU, or even the ones close to Kiffin, know which way this is going to go.

All they can do is wait for Saturday to find out whether it will be Ole Miss or LSU, or something entirely else.
