Chris Beard thrives when the margin for error is the thinnest. He proved it again with a stunning Sunday commit.

Ole Miss basketball locks in forward Daniel Patton

Daniel Patton, a three-star forward from Houston (Cy Falls), Texas, put pen to paper right after concluding his weekend visit with the Rebels. Must have been Beard's eleventh-hour magic in the portal coming in clutch at work, but Patton was sure about his future even before he concluded his visit to the Sip.

"It was great," Patton said of the visit to Ole Miss per 247 Sports. "We went to dinner with (Zach) Day and (Brian) Burg and then met Beard."

"Coach Beard is a winner," Patton added. "He said we're going to get this thing turned around and he never wants to have a season like that again."

And with that, the Houston-area forward became the Rebels' fourth portal addition. Three of these four have struck in just the last 48 hours, proof that Beard does his best work with the portal deadline looming right over their heads."

Locking in a 6-foot-7 wing in the 2026 class further proved what the Rebel Nation is already excited about Beard's portal class this season. He isn't just stacking talent; he's going all out to fill out the roster gaps Ole Miss desperately needed.

Patton has the length to be a disruptive defender on the perimeter but the offensive polish to act as a secondary playmaker. He absolutely blew up during his senior season at Cy Falls averaging 20 PPG and 9 RPG while shooting nearly 48% from three. He’s bringing elite efficiency to Oxford.

Patton said Ole Miss had an "incredible campus," adding he and his brother, and father loved their time in Oxford over the weekend.

"The goal is to be in Detroit this time next year (for the Final Four). That's the main goal."
