Ole Miss basketball guard Patton Pinkins said what would have made Ole Miss fans laugh just a couple hours ago.

The Rebels are still trying to stay hot for Nashville.

Pinkins had a career-high night and absolutely stole the show on Saturday night by defeating Auburn in a 85-79 thriller. Here is what Chris Beard, Patton Pinkins had to say about the Rebels snapping their 10-loss streak.

What Chris Beard said:

"We have great purpose in our locker room as well," Beard said. "We're going to keep playing until we can't play anymore."

"I thought, above all tonight, we played as a team and we competed," Beard said. "We've been in many games just like this. We just haven't been able to finish."

"Our motto tonight was just to compete," Ole Miss coach Chris Beard said. "I'm proud of our guys. We have a lot of respect for the Auburn program so to beat a team like this this time of year speaks really highly of our players in a season when it would almost be understandable if guys kind of checked it in. We've been in a lot of games like tonight. Tonight, we just came out on top."

What Patton Pinkins said

"Our fate's in our hands," Pinkins said. "It's next game on the schedule, one game at a time. We're trying to get hot before we go to Nashville."

"It's definitely been tough," Pinkins said afterwards in an interview with the SEC Network. "We've lost 10 in a row, but the vibes around the locker room have been positive. Our coaching staff has done a great job and our players haven't quit."
