Ole Miss men's basketball continues bleeding out with another 80-77 loss to Texas A&M Wednesday night.

The loss, adding to the Rebels' already harrowing skid, just makes it that much tougher for the fans to process.

A comeback seems like a pipedream at this point.

But Chris Beard is hoping for it anyway, as he mentioned when the Rebels were on a seven-loss streak. Another loss later, Beard thinks that Ole Miss is slowly nearing that comeback win.

"Really good response by our team. Last time we played, we did not have a good effort. Just didn't play well. And tonight, I thought in a lot of ways we outplayed the opponent; probably deserving of winning the game," Beard said in his post-game conference.

Ole Miss definitely outplayed Texas A&M, until the final minutes

It was a true down-to-the-wire for both teams desperate to put an end to their losing streaks. The only difference this time was that Ole Miss truly put in the work to take home the win till the final minutes, as opposed to them playing as if they had already lost one in their previous matchup against Mississippi State.

The catastrophic four-minute collapse towards the end cost the Rebels a game they had entirely dominated otherwise.

Texas A&M was trailing by as many as 13 points at 63-50 with 11:46 left in the contest. Every time the Aggies tried to cut the deficit, the Rebels had the answer.

A 3-pointer and a rebound later, Texas A&M snatched the lead with 1:52 on the clock. And that is exactly where the wheels came off for Beard's squad.

Not once, not twice, but they missed three 3-pointers in their next trip down the court, whereas the Aggies cemented their win with dropping in two from the foul line in the closing seconds.

Storr finished the game with 21 points, while Dia added 20. Ilias Kamardine scored 12, and Pinkins had 11.

"Proud of our team and our players. I thought we really responded from our last game out and played one of the better games of the year," Beard added.

Ole Miss returns to its home, the SJB Pavilion to take on the No. 11 Florida on Saturday, Feb. 21.
