The Ole Miss Rebels will kick off the 2025 season this Saturday at 6:45 Central Time inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium against the Georgia State Panthers. It is one of the few times this season where the Rebels will be the undisputed favorite and the clearly more talented team.

That does not mean the Rebels are taking this matchup lightly, as Lane Kiffin mentioned during his Monday press conference. However, this should be a great game for the new-look Rebels, made up of a ton of transfers and first time starters to work some things out before SEC play, which starts next week in Kentucky.

This game will also welcome in the official start of the "Austin Simmons Era" at Ole Miss, at the south paw signal caller will make his first start of his college career. While it won't be the competition level that he will face most of the season , it will still be important to see how the young QB reacts.

I think another important factor to watch will be how the second string O-line looks. There have been some concerns about the health of the group overall, so developing some depth at some key positions might prove vital later in the season.

I am also excited to get our first look at a completely revamped defensive line for Ole Miss. There appears to be a ton of hype about this group, and I am excited to get to see guys like Kam Franklin and William Echoles take some major snaps.
