Ole Miss has made a name in sending wide receivers to the pros, with several players playing significant roles for their NFL teams. One player who has been one of the best in the league for several seasons is Seattle's wide receiver, DK Metcalf.

During his team's Week 7 win over Atlanta, Metcalf was taken to the locker room on a cart to asses an injury he picked up late in the third quarter. Reports are a little less concerning than initially expected at the time.

Wide receiver DK Metcalf's status set to week-to-week

When DK Metcalf left the game at the end of the third quarter against Atlanta, fans were worried about the extent of the injury. Metcalf was hit in the air while making a catch, resulting in a heavy landing. After being assessed on the sideline, the former Ole Miss player was taken to the locker room on a cart.

After scans on his injured knee, the news for Seattle fans is much better than initially thought. Head coach Mike Macdonald confirmed to reporters that Metcalf has a Grade 1 sprained MCL, and his status is week-to-week

Ever the pro, the sixth-year player is doing everything he can to prepare for the Week 8 game against Buffalo. Macdonald will likely not rush the star receiver back for the game, with more critical games against division rival Los Angeles Rams, followed by a bye week, before the San Francisco 49ers.

DK Metcalf is currently ranked No. 3 in receiving yards this season, making 35 receptions for 568 receiving yards. Metcalf is looking for a third straight 1,000-yard season for the Seahawks and is on course if he recovers quickly from the injury.
