On Thursday, Ole Miss revealed how Pete Golding's paycheck is also looking a lot different, alongside his role in the Grove.

Golding filling in Lane Kiffin's head coaching shoes comes with an updated paycheck for him of course. But it is not quite as much as his predecessor used to make.

Pete Golding's contract details

Michael Kaltz of the Daily Journal reported the Rebels locking Golding in with a $6.8 million contract in his first season as the head coach.

The five-year deal, running till 2030, will see a $100,000 base salary increase annually.

"Golding, who was recently promoted from defensive coordinator following Lane Kiffin’s departure to LSU, will receive a base-salary raise of $100,000 per year for five years, culminating in a base salary of $7.2 million in 2030," Kaltz wrote.

Kaltz further mentioned how Golding would also be entitled to several bonuses.

"There are also incentives for conference wins, postseason berths and Coach of the Year honors, among others. Golding’s buyout should he be fired for anything other than cause is “an amount equal to … (75%) of the remaining OMAF (Ole Miss Athletics Foundation) Annual Compensation … that would be due through the otherwise unexpired Term.”

The contract makes Golding the 36th highest paid coach in college football, right between Sam Pittman and Hugh Freeze, based on the data before the coaching carousel chaos took over.

Kiffin, on the other hand, ranked among the Top 15 highest paid head coaches in college football with his $9 million annual contract with Ole Miss. The former 11th highest paid coach, to be precise.

Now, his $13 million salary is reportedly just shy of Kirby Smart at No. 1, and could even overtake in the updated highest-paid head coach rankings if Kiffin could unlock his incentives at LSU.
