Jaxson Dart passes Eli Manning to lead the Ole Miss program in passing yards
Heading into the Egg Bowl, Jaxson Dart had 10,070 passing yards, putting him in second place in program history. He was sat behind Ole Miss great Eli Manning, 49 yards behind, passing him.
It took him two quarters to get past the mark, now etching his name in program history as the leading passer. With still two more quarters to play, he is set to extend the record further but has struggled in the first half, throwing for just 67 yards.
Jaxson Dart, one of the greatest to do it at Ole Miss
Jaxson Dart was always going to be named into the Ole Miss football Hall of Fame, but adding a record such as this makes him an even greater Rebel player.
Dart passed Eli Manning's record with a pass to wide receiver Jordan Watkins for 17 yards. If you asked Dart, I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted it to go to anybody else, having a close bond with Watkins over his three seasons with the program. Also, doing it in the Egg Bowl will add some extra delight for Dart.
The comms team cut to a video message from Eli Manning congratulating Dart on passing his record in the tongue-in-cheek style we expect from Eli.
We will see how many more yards Dart adds. Ole Miss is starting to take hold of the game after a slow start, leading 17-14 at the half.
