After transferring from USC, Jaxson Dart had an excellent three seasons at Ole Miss. His performances were rewarded with the New York Giants trading up from the second round to the first to pick the Utah native. He was just one of two quarterbacks within the first 32 picks, but unlike Cam Ward, who went No.1 overall to Tennessee, he is not expected to start in week 1 of the regular season.
Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon has predicted when each of the drafted quarterbacks from the 2025 draft could start. He believes Dart will get a chance to start a game this season, but not till much later in the season and against a former team coached by Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin.
"My first start window for him starts Dec. 1 in New England, but I get the feeling the Giants hold out until the holidays. "Brad Gagnon
Gagnon predicted that Dart could start the week 17 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. He believes Russell Wilson will perform well for the Giants, but they will not "stick around deep into the season" and would benefit given their first-round draft pick some experience.
It's a positive for the former Ole Miss quarterback to have two veterans in Wilson and Jameis Winston in the room to learn from. We have seen first-round QBs thrown into the starting role numerous times when they need time to develop, and Dart will definitely get that.
The program record holder for Ole Miss in passing yards will likely get time on the field during the preseason games. Dart hopes to follow in the footsteps of former Rebel legend Eli Manning, who won two Super Bowls with the Giants. I'm sure if somebody offered Dart that, now he would take it.
