If there's one thing that Keith Carter has made incredibly clear as Ole Miss AD is that he'll always be the coach's golden boy, for better or for worse. As usual, he proved it yet again, this time shutting down the 'Fire Mike Bianco' noise hijacking the Rebels' social media.
"Sorry you had a miserable night tonight with the Rebs winning. Maybe go support another team," was Carter's blunt response to a fan asking Carter to fire Bianco over "leaving the pitchers in for too damn long."
The tweet came after Ole Miss held off Florida in their first leg of the series underway in Gainesville on Thursday night.
Keith Carter goes off on Ole Miss fans
Here's the thing about all the 'Fire Bianco' chants going off even after a win, though: it goes way back. Bianco has not shown even the slightest glimpse of what Ole Miss used to be in 2022. A year or two is fine to shake off the post-natty hangover. But it's been four years and still nothing. Losing 9th of their previous 10 series against Mississippi State was the final straw for the Rebels fans.
Because in the Magnolia State, the bitterest pill there is to swallow is losing to your in-state rival. This time, it's 9 stinging sweeps we're talking about.
After getting the Rebels a National Championship in 2022, Bianco's squad seems to have hit the wall. That or he's just coasting on his 2022 credentials. That is exactly why the fans further called out Carter for only sparking online beef with fans when Bianco got in a win, and not when the outrage was off-the-charts in the past week after losses to Memphis and Mississippi State.
"Joe….we all hate losing, but the insufferable losers like you and others who tweet at me in the middle of the game from their parent’s basements is just ridiculous. Be better," Carter responded to the fan.
Until Bianco finds a way to redeem himself, which would be making it to the Regionals at minimum and live up to the standard at Swayze, the chants might just keep getting louder.
