Kewan Lacy's injury might just have been the break Miami needed to punch its ticket to the National Championship.

After breaking out a massive 73-yard touchdown in the second quarter, Ole Miss star running back Kewan Lacy went back to the sideline for what appeared to be an injury with his right hamstring.

Logan Diggs replaced Lacy from the play, who added another for 6 yards.

Another kick from Lucas Carneiro tied the game at 10-10 for Ole Miss with 4:38 on the clock in the second quarter.

But Miami didn't let that happiness last long among the Ole Miss fans, as they absolutely crushed the Rebs defense with a 52-yard touchdown strike down the middle of the field.

Update:

Seeing the Rebels' star RB returning to the field in the second half generated a collective sigh of relief among the Ole Miss fans in attendance. The only caveat was the black compression belt still on his right knee.

After his return, however, Lacy could not produce any more crazy numbers that could have been the push Ole Miss needed to seal the win in the fourth quarter.

In the second half, Lacy was mainly the player Ole Miss used to keep the Canes offense in check. The focus of the game-winning playmaker shifted entirely to Trinidad Chambliss.

Lacy finished the night with he finished with 11 carries for 103 yards, meaning he only touched the ball 9 more times after the injury — and of course his 73-yard touchdown.

Ole Miss might have lost the game, but the program definitely won the season.
