Kewan Lacy is getting all the appreciation he deserves from Lane Kiffin

Hardly anyone expected Ole Miss to be this good at entering the 2025 season. But nine weeks in, and the Rebels are producing some of the best players across the SEC in QB Trinidad Chambliss and, unexpectedly, RB Kewan Lacy.

Although he was off to a relatively slow start this season. RB Lacy seems to have finally found his footing in the game, and more importantly, has outdone all expectations placed on him.

What made Lacy shine out even more was his ability to keep the ball moving when the remaining Rebels' offense looked stagnant vs. Washington State.

The momentum continued showing through in their showdown against Georgia, their first loss this season, where Lacy accounted for two out of the five TDs of the Rebels vs. Georgia.

When asked about Lacy during his conference previewing Oklahoma week, Kiffin had only one complaint: Giving him the ball more in the fourth quarter vs. Georgia.

"Yeah, Kewan has done an amazing job. You know, I always look at things not like, ‘oh, how well did you do them?’ and sit on that? I always look at things and say, ‘Okay, how could we have done something differently,’ you know? And I kind of wish we would have got him the ball there in the fourth quarter as they (Georgia) were driving a lot," Kiffin said.

"But at the same time too, in my opinion, you move versus Georgia through throwing, especially their defense this year, and it’s a lot harder to run against them. That’s why you saw a pass-heavy game or quarterback run game."

"And it worked, five series of five touchdowns. So it’s kind of hard to go away from that. But looking back, obviously, when you know we missed some of the throws, you say, ‘well man I wish we kind of would have given it to him.’ But, he’s done a great job."

For what it's worth, Lacy could expect more time with the ball moving forward, especially in pressure situations.

Ole Miss heads to Norman this Saturday to take on Oklahoma.
