The Sugar Bowl preps are in full swing in Athens, but there is one outlier in an otherwise electric atmosphere that is keeping the Bulldogs' head coach, Kirby Smart, on edge.

The same thing that is one of the countable good things Lane Kiffin left in Oxford: the Ole Miss offense.

Kirby Smart slightly wary of Ole Miss offense

Ole Miss's offense was its strongest and weakest points the last time they faced the Bulldogs.

Focusing on why they were the strongest, Smart harped on how it is still Weis Jr. calling the offense, even when recovering from the Lane Kiffin drama.

"The offensive coordinator and the staff is still all there. So, I mean, they're not going to make overhaul or make large changes, right? They got something that really works well," Smart told the media on Monday when talking about the Rebels.

Frankly, Pete Golding showed that the Kiffin drama is in no way affecting how they are preparing for the College Football Playoff with their massive win over Tulane.

Sure, Tulane and Georgia are two entirely different ballparks, yet the Rebs averaged 7.3 yards per play against the AAC Champions.

The one thing it proves is that Golding is ready to fire on all cylinders on both sides of the ball, even if it is just his initial games as the Ole Miss head coach.

Smart knows that Weis Jr. also won't hold back, especially this time.

"So, they're playing at a really high level offensively, and, I mean, Lane has something to do with that because he helped build it and get them there, but Charlie's done a tremendous job calling the plays and doing those things."

The last time they met, Georgia got the better of the Rebs offense by the fourth quarter, finishing it off 14-0, and taking home the one-score win.

Weis Jr. would know better this time to keep the rhythm consistent and keep Smart guessing.

If Ole Miss can pull that off, plus fix some key defensive shortcomings, they have the Sugar Bowl win right up its sleeve. And that is exactly the reason why Smart will be wary of Ole Miss on New Year's.
