Lane Kiffin is keeping his eyes on the prize while deterring from any more drama with his former school Ole Miss football.
That prize is Trinidad Chambliss. After Chambliss seeking another year in eligibility, Kiffin will be one of the may head coaches hot on Chambliss's trail to get him as his program's QB.
Of course, the LSU head coach gets the advantage here after his time with Chambliss at Ole Miss.
Lane Kiffin praises Trinidad Chambliss
When asked about Chambliss' growth as an Ole Miss QB, Kiffin skirted right around it to avoid any 'violations' during his viral Texas Bowl appearance with ESPN.
"Yeah, I don't know. This is tricky, since we have coaches back there and everything. They might say it's a violation if I talk about Trinidad and how good he is," he straight-up told the hosts.
However, after a brief pause, he did talk about how he got the Ferris State transfer to develop to such a level.
"I think that when you just give the quarterback belief and confidence and stick with them when things don't really go very well, especially early in the year, and they know that and they feel that from you," Kiffin said.
"The helmet communication with the guys now is so different than it used to be. That it's really neat being able to walk them through games the way we do. I think we have a very unique, really good quarterback situation of what we do with the quarterbacks during the game," he added, crediting the newer technologies for better growth of the players."
If it was not obvious, Kiffin praised Chambliss in general just enough toset the hook for him to get him to LSU as soon as the transfer portal opens.
Probably the only thing holding Kiffin back in launching a full-fledged Chambliss heist is the NCAA not approving the QB's waiver just yet.
We'll see what Kiffin has planned once we get there.
