Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin has been calling out the whole damn thing right from the week the CFP committee released it's first College Football Playoff rankings.

Now, his concerns are looking more and more real after the second CFP rankings were released on Tuesday.

The updated rankings saw Ole Miss fall down a spot to No. 7, as Texas tech overtook the Rebels to sit at No. 6 after they had a dominant win over a ranked opponent in BYU.

The statement that committee sent from the decision was clear as day: a big margin victory over a ranked opponent, and several other good eye tests will easily outweigh a significantly supreme strength of schedule.

And that's exactly what Kiffin has been talking about, or better, voicing his concern about.

The committee not giving a team as much props for their strength of schedule is something he has been calling them out even before the first CFP rankings were released.

Kiffin first addressed it last Monday previewing Citadel week.

"I hadn’t thought about that, but probably that would be the part — I’d look less about where we are and more of that just to see, okay, are they actually going to pay as much attention that we were told they are going to now?" Kiffin said.

"And that was part of our going to nine games in the SEC was, you know, being told that this was changing and it was going to matter who you played and where you played and the environments and how hard the games are. So, you know, we’ll see. So that really would be really disappointing."

He explained it most recently in his press conference on Monday previewing Florida week, by taking a stand for Texas A&M.

"Texas A&M being No. 3 — what more could they do to be No. 1? People always say schedule tough — they played nine SEC games and went to Notre Dame and won. But if that’s not rewarded, what’s the point? They have the highest metrics, and they’re still not No. 1. So I don’t know," Kiffin said.

With just two games remaining against unraked opponents, the scope for the Rebels to make a case for a higher ranking is also quite narrow.

Yet, we'll see where the Rebels turn up in the final 2025 CFP bracket.
