Lane Kiffin's explanation for ambiguity on Florida rumors is still not enough

The Ole Miss Rebels got their revenge in the 34-24 win against Florida on Saturday, and Ole Miss fans got an explaination to why their head coach, Lane Kiffin, has been particularly evasive about the firestorm of rumors sending him to Florida.

Ever since the rumors took root, Kiffin has brushed off directly addressing them one way or another. Sure, he has mentioned how much he values Ole Miss and what he has going on there, but never the words "I'm not leaving," which could simply scrape the national level speculation.

Saturday came with an explanation, but it still didn't have the words the Rebel Nation wants to hear.

"Those of you have covered me for six years have seen how we answer these questions (about his job status during the season)," Kiffin said Saturday.

"I don't know why there would have been a fan narrative. Both fans had a narrative. Basically, it's a policy we have of how we don't talk about it (during the season) and we never have."

The Rebels all but punched their ticket to the College Football Playoff with a win over Florida, along with a revenge over the Gators for knocking them out of the Playoff last season.

It was a massive night in the Sip, and fans expected Kiffin to be lying in wait for this win to put the rumors to bed.

"I love what we're doing here. I don't talk about that stuff. And to do that would be disrespectful to the players. Doing really well, and I love it here," Kiffin added when asked about the rumors.

Reassurance is nice, but set-in-stone words are what would truly calm the growing anxiety in Oxford.
