Lane Train rolling: Ole Miss football lands four huge commitments in one week

There has been some concern amongst the Ole Miss fanbase about the 2026 recruitng class being lackluster so far in the cycle. The coaching staff however took a large step towards putting together a great class this past week, receiving four commitments, including several blue chippers.

Landon Barnes - Edge - 4-Star - Duncanville, TX

The first of the four commitments, is also the highest ranked. On June 30th, 4 star edge out of Texas, Landon Barnes announced his commitment to the Rebels. Barnes committed to Ole Miss over two Big 10 program in Ohio State and Washington.

Barnes stands 6'3 and weighs in at 245 pounds. He is another elite recruit on the defensive line, which has been perhaps the best recruited positions out of the high school ranks by Pete Golding and Randal Joyner. According to ON3 Industry Ranking, Barnes is the 120th overall player and the number 19th ranked edge.

JC Anderson - Tight End - 4-Star - Decatur, IL

Just a day after the commitment of Barnes, Ole Miss landed another blue chip prospect. Mt. Zion Highschool (Decatur, IL) tight end, JC Anderson, announced his pledge to the Rebels over Auburn.

Anderson is a dynamic athlete and also a big body target, standing at 6'6, 230 pounds. He has the ability to stretch the field and also presents a great mismatch for defenders. According to On3, Anderson is the 149th player in the country and also the 9th ranked TE.

Iverson McCoy - Corner Back - 3-Star - Tupelo, MS

The holiday weekend was not done quite yet on the recruiting front for Ole Miss. On July 3rd, Tupelo defensive back and former Mississippi State commit, Iverson McCoy, announced his commitment to the Rebs.

McCoy is a super athletic defensive back, competing in the triple jump, long jump and high jump for Tupelo High School. On3 has McCoy pegged at the 475th ranked player in America and the number 47th CB.

Jett Goldsberry - Athlete - 4-Star - Lincoln City, IN

Lastly, the Rebels would go back into the Midwest and Big 10 country to pick up a commitment from dynamic athlete Jett Goldsberry.

Goldsberry is the the starting QB for his high school, Heritage Hills, but also plays on the defensive side of the ball. He will suit up as a safety for Ole Miss. He has been shooting up recruting boards and according to On3, he is a 4-star recruit, and the number 15th ranked athlete prospect in the class.


With the flurry of new commitments the Rebels have seen their team ranking jump considerably. The are now the 17th ranked recruiting class in the nation according to the On3 industry rankings. Ole Miss now has a total of 13 commitments with an average prospect rating of 88.628 and have 5 four-star prospects in the class.
