Rumors starting swirling on Monday that new Rebel Tight End, Luke Hasz, had fractured his ankle and had already undergone surgery. It took a little bit for the rumor to get confirmed, but multiple publications have been able to confirm the rumors. It is still unclear how the injury occurred, the severity, and how long he will be out.

Regardless, Hasz will miss a significant part of the season, but it is possible he could return in October for the heart of the SEC schedule. Nonetheless, this is a major blow to the Rebels offense.

Luke Hasz was a part of the trio of Arkansas Razorbacks who transferred to Ole Miss this past winter, the other two are OG Patrick Kutas and CB Jaylon Braxton.

Hasz was a 4-star transfer prospect, ranked as the 35th overall and 2nd ranked TE according to 247 sports. In his two seasons at Arkansas, Hasz put up a combined 42 receptions for 577 yards and 7 touchdowns. He has battled other injuries throughout his collegiate career.

The tight end room is not bare for the Rebels. They return Daequan Wright, who flashed in his first season for Ole Miss after transferring from Virginia Tech. Last season, Wright had 27 catches for nearly 400 yards and 4 touchdowns.

His responsibilities will only increase in the absence of Hasz. Ole Miss also added University of New Mexico transfer, Trace Bruckler in the portal. Bruckler caught 22 passes last season, totaling 194 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Lobos
