The double-decker party in Oxford suffered an absolute blindside hit Tuesday when a Top 100 LB decided to back off his commitment to Ole Miss and re-enter the transfer portal.

Jiyez Fleming decommits from Ole Miss

Oxford (Ala.) three-star linebacker Jiyez Fleming took to his social media on April 28 to announce his decision about the Rebels.

"After careful consideration, I’ve decided to decommit from the University of Mississippi and reopen my recruitment. I’m grateful to the coaches and staff for believing in me, and I have nothing but respect for the program. I wish Ole Miss the best moving forward," Fleming wrote via X.

Golding’s staff pulled out every trick play in the book to keep Kiffin’s recruits in the fold, but they couldn't close the gap with Fleming. He committed last fall.

Golding built this defensive haul around Fleming; now, the staff is stuck in neutral at linebacker, even if the front line remains strong with Ben'Jarvius Shumaker.

As a 6', 218-pounder out of Alabama, Fleming ranks as one of the Top 100 LBs in the 2027 cycle. In his junior campaign in 2025, he finished with 38 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and one interception across 10 games played for his high school squad.

But that's just one down for Ole Miss football. The face of their class of 2027, Keegan Croucher, is still going "locked in" with Ole Miss.

More so, the Baylor QB is also committed to being an actual leader at Ole Miss, rather than just the starting QB in the future. He's already off helping Golding and staff in recruiting during his visits and also via social media.

Croucher already has a bunch of players in mind whom he connected with over the weekend that he's finding ways to lure to the Sip, including DLs as potential replacements.

It's just another tough break Golding has to hustle his way out of to save the class.
