Ole Miss men's basketball tried so hard and got only so far in the SEC Tournament. The fight was perhaps one of the toughest Beard's aquad has fought with a disasterous 15-20 season, the worst in program history, precedeing them.
However, Beard has no regrets. After about a month-and-a-half of the 93-90 down-to-the-wire loss to Arkansas on Day 4 of the SEC Tournament, Chris Beard explains why that night was one of the proudest moments everyone was in a long time when they entered the locker room.

"Me peronslly, I don't look back much and I try not to look too far forward but what I will tell you about that run in Nashville is I'll never forget it," Beard told 247 Sports.
"I was so happy and satisfied and in some ways, pleased, for the players. The truth of the matter was, and I got tired of saying it game after game, but our guys truly did do a great job competing. Through some tough situations, our guys never quit. They kept scrapping. They kept fighting. Sometimes the scoreboard didn't show that but to get to Nashville and to win those games, it was affirmation for what we all knew was happening internally. I was really happy for our guys. There's no other way to describe it."Â
Had the Rebels made it past the Razorbacks, they would have had a shot at the SEC Tournament title and a potential shot at the postseason.
"In my opinion, we were one shot away from getting to that championship game and I really would have liked our chances that game for sure," Beard said. "It's a memory I'll never forget and it really bonded us together, even the guys who have chosen to leave Ole Miss for their own personal reasons. …There was a lot of respect in our locker room when we left Nashville."
Even though they didn't make it there, it was the team effort that went into building a case for SEC title that left feeling everyone kind of happy after the depressing regular season.
