As we edge closer to rivalry week, it means the end of the regular season for some teams. It also means the early signing day period and the transfer portal will soon open. However, last year, the NCAA D1 Council announced some changes to the calendar around those periods.

When is early signing day?

The early signing day window opens on Wednesday, December 4, and will shut at midnight on Friday, December 6.

The window used to be after conference championship weekend but moved to before that weekend in 2024 and onwards.

What is early signing day?

Early signing day is three days during which high school senior football players can sign letters of intent to their chosen programs. The official national signing day is Wednesday, February 5.

As mentioned, high school seniors sign their letters of intent primarily. Still, some high school players reclassify, such as Ole Miss quarterback Austin Simmons, who has just turned 19 despite his second year with the program.

Will Ole Miss be heavily involved in the three-day period?

Ole Miss secured several flips this past week and is still pushing for more. Quarterback Deuce Knight, offensive lineman Tyler Miller, and edge Jared Smith are all mentioned alongside the Rebels.

The recruits Lane Kiffin has verbally committed don't look in danger of flipping their commitment away from Ole Miss, but anything can happen in the next several days.

Like last year, Kiffin could have a quiet few days, focusing mainly on the transfer portal. The Rebels currently hold the No. 16 ranked recruiting class per On3, which would be his highest class since arriving in Oxford.
