Nick Sirianni revealed his stance on A.J. Brown on Monday that sent shockwaves across the Eagles' defense.

The Philly head coach likes what he has, but he is already keeping his eyes on the door just in case a better player walks in.

Both Brown and the franchise have mutual interest in continuing forward, but neither Sirianni nor GM Howie Roseman has committed to Brown suiting up for Philadelphia next season.

"Yeah, my expectation is he wants to be here. And obviously, you want good players like that in your building," Sirianni said during a session with local media in front of the combine.

"As Howie said, it's hard to get good players in this league. A.J.'s a great player, and A.J. is a good teammate, and A.J. is a good person. Does he want to be here? Yes. Do I want him to be here? Yes."

An A.J. Brown trade around the corner?

After the coach talk, Sirianni indicated that the writing is not there on the wall yet.

"Will A.J. be here next season? I think we're still in a spot, like, I can't guarantee how anything is going to play out into next season. I'm thinking I'm going to be the coach next season, but you can't guarantee anything past tomorrow," he said.

Brown is a core receiver; without him defenses will just sit on Devonta Smith, effectively handicapping the entire pass game for the season.

Not to mention the massive $40 million dead cap hit that will be occupied for a vacant roster spot if they trade him before June 1.

Hurts will also be losing his primary safety valve, making the effets more far-fetched.

Unless Sirianni finds a plug-and-play replacement for Brown, any trade would be a landslide win for the buyer, leaving the Eagles with nothing but a gaping hole in their roster
