Ole Miss welcomes Oklahoma to the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium this Saturday for the first time in program history. The Sooners joined the SEC this season from the Big 12 Conference alongside rivals Texas. However, it's not gone as they may have predicted, sitting at 4-3.
Head coach Brent Venables has not been helped by the number of injuries the team has had to deal with. In seven games, the team has not had a full group of wide receivers to choose from. The team is set to have its top guys missing again, with Deion Burks trending to miss the game.
Deion Burks downgraded to doubtful against Ole Miss
Oklahoma was hopeful that star wide receiver Deion Burks would be fit for the team's game against Ole Miss this Saturday. However, Burks's status for the game has been downgraded from questionable to doubtful.
If Burks misses the game, as it looks like he will, Oklahoma will be without five wide receivers. Jayden Gibson, Jalil Farooq, Nic Anderson, and Andrel Anthony are all listed as out for the game, meaning the Sooners will once again feel they are at a considerable disadvantage.
Oklahoma struggled to move the ball through the air against South Carolina last week. Alongside the wide receivers' issues, the quarterback's play has been below average, so it does feel like Ole Miss should be able to get past them this weekend.
The Sooners don't have another bye until Week 12, but they play FCS side Maine next week, so they have two weeks to get players healthy for a crucial game against Missouri in Week 11.
