Ole Miss ace, Hunter Elliott, announces his return in 2026 amid the MLB draft

The 2025 MLB draft is currently and while the Rebels have suffered a few losses in the draft today, more on that latter, they pulled off a major victory. After the first ten rounds of the draft there was one major omission, and that was Ole Miss ace Hunter Elliott. The first ten rounds is a major marker for signing in the draft.

After not seeing his appear in the first ten rounds, rumors began swirling around Hunter's return. One of the main drivers of this was a tweet from the head of the Grove Collective, Walker Jones.

It didn't take long for Hunter to make the news official, as he took to social media himself to make the announcement.

This news came as a bit of a shock, as it was appearing more and more that Elliott was learning towards signing. However, something behind the scenes happened, and the Rebels were able to return one of the best in the country.

Hunter Elliott made his return to the mound in 2025, after missing virtually two season due to injury. He did not disappoint. He started every single Friday night game for the Rebels this year, and in his 16 starts he pitched to a 2.94 ERA with a 1.156 WHIP. Furthermore, he also struck out 102 batters in his 85 innings pitched. Elliott was named to the NCBWA All-America team.

Elliott's return provides next years team a bona fide ace and one of the best in the SEC heading into the next season. This is a massive win for the staff as they attempt to build a roster that is capable of returning to Omaha.
