Ole Miss basketball has had a slow start to the transfer portal, adding just one player and missing out on several. It will not be an issue for head coach Chris Beard, who will be patient in the process of adding to his roster for the 2025-26 season.

The fans are not showing any signs of concern yet, with plenty of time for a big announcement, which could come the way of a top guard who is set to visit Oxford.

Sam Houston transfer Lamar Wilkerson, one of the top guards in the portal, is set to visit four teams before making his decision. Wilkerson will visit Indiana, Kentucky, Auburn, and Ole Miss per his agent, reported by On3. The senior averaged 20.5 PPG this season, shooting 44.4% from three in 32 games, scoring over 25 points or more in 11 games during the 2024-25 season.

Beard's side has lost a lot of talent. Sean Pedulla, Matthew Murrell, Jaemyn Brakefield, Jaylen Murray, Dre Davis, and Mikeal Brown-Jones are all set to depart due to burning their eligibility. It means some huge holes on the roster to fill. The good news for Beard is Malik Dia announced he was staying with the program, and they also committed LSU transfer Corey Chest, adding a good two-player combo around the boards.

Adding a talent like Lamar Wilkerson would be a massive get for the Rebels and a game-changer for the rest of the portal work. Beard surely has more NIL money to spend after a fantastic second season and turning down the Texas A&M job, so could that go on acquiring Wilkerson?

Ole Miss still has stakes in several players, so we will judge the work after a few weeks, but for now, we need a big announcement.
