Ole Miss basketball had an 11-0 end-of-game run on the road to LSU to get them a big victory on Saturday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The win was not against a top-ranked team but with a 1-8 record in SEC play. As head coach Chris Beard says, every road game is challenging, but losing to the Tigers would have sent them tumbling down the AP Poll rankings.
It came after a win over No.14 Kentucky, so the win was extra important for the Rebels on Saturday in their quest to go dancing in March.
The two wins helped Ole Miss reach the top 25 of the latest AP Poll rankings. The Rebels are now at No. 19, moving up six spots.

The win over LSU kept the Rebels' unbeaten record against teams outside of Quad 1, moving them to 12-0 against teams in Quads 2, 3, and 4. The win over Kentucky last week moved them to 6-6 over Quad 1 opposition.
Head coach Chris Beard spoke about the win over LSU, and how vital every road win is for the goal of an NCAA Tournament spot.
"Late in the game, I thought our guys showed a lot of poise just giving ourselves a chance. Obviously had some fortune during that time, but just proud of the win on a night where we didn’t play our best. To get an SEC road win, speaks a lot about our team. And make sure the narrative isn’t that we didn’t play our best for any other reason than LSU."Chris Beard
Ole Miss has another road game against struggling South Carolina, a team still looking for its first SEC win. The Rebels will need to play much better to avoid making the game more difficult than it should be.
